Dance

Between the months of March and July each year dance sessions are held once or twice a week in Sandown and Shanklin. Simple dance routines are choreographed to our chosen music tracks for the year. Routines are designed to ensure costumes are showed off to the their best so they are simple but effective enabling everyone to be able to do them to be fun and easily performed whilst moving along the road

Dance sessions cost £1 per session and are run by Jill and other group volunteers. All the money raised goes towards meeting the costs of attending the carnivals. Individuals from 2 to 65yrs take part benefiting from getting fit, making friends and having fun.

Costume

Once a theme has been decided costumes are then designed and prototyped by Jill and Sharon between Jan and March. Once all the prototyping has been completed the costumes are then launched at our annual Launch Party usually held in April.

At the party everyone gets to see the costumes and chooses what they would like to wear. Once numbers for each costume are complete it is then all systems go with getting them made.

Costume workshops differ each year dependant on number and types of costume being made. Making the costumes takes many hours and requires lots of different techniques and skills. Getting involved with the making of costumes is not only fun but also means that you can acquire lots of new skills.
