Jill although a trained childcare practitioner and manager, has been involved in costume making for many years. Jill’s love of art, theatre music and particularly sewing lead her to get involved in carnival 6 years ago.

Jill’s involvement in carnival came about through her out of school club being approached by Sharon and the Arts Unit to take part in a touring production. In 2003 she took part with the young people and staff from the club in the touring arts production ‘Din Shiru’ which was brought to the Island by a top London based carnival arts organization. The tour included trips to The Thames Festival and Canterbury carnival as well as performing at many carnivals across the Island.

This introduction to carnival lead to Jill developing a new found passion for carnival costume design and production. Jill now performs in costume across the Island and at mainland events in costumes designed and produced by herself as part of MAS FUSION.

In 2005 Jill gained a level 2 NCFE cert in carnival arts and in 2006 was awarded a commission by the Islands Art Unit to build a large scale wheel based costume called ‘A Night with the stars’

Jill is also a qualified adult tutor and an NVQ assessor and has delivered workshops with community groups, schools and adult learners. Jill is enhanced CRB checked.
