I love carnival. What better way to meet lots of people, make friends, learn new skills, or put old ones to use and have fun at the same time.The excitement of being in a carnival with all the music, cosumes and seeing the specator enjoying the spectacle can not be beaton exceptin my case making my costume or helping to make others.
I have for some time wanted to make a tree but could not think to keep to the theme for mas fusion. One night I went to bed early, woke up afer an hour and sketched several designs, of a japanese woman leaning against a magnolia tree. The tree is represented by branches and flowers painted ono panels, some of which are also painted.
The panels will be fixed to a backpack in he shape of a fan, which will be at an angle. The kiimono will be white in the main with blockof colour on parts of it. The headdress will be the shape of a fan which will also be in blocks of colour. The colour theme is white, black, gold and pink.
The costume was inspired by Wayne Berkley and lacquered furniture. I think it will look good but that is up to you the spectators to decide.

I have been doing Carnival, and enjoying it, for about seven years now. I first got into it through my Mum who got involved through a project being run at her after school club. I have worn numerous different costumes and now wear an individual costume, which is usually quite large.
I enjoy a lot of aspects of the Carnival like performing and wearing costume at events throughout the country.
Over the last seven years I have performed on the Island, at various places on the mainland and in Viareggio in Italy. Last year I performed at Alexandra palace at the Notting Hill SPLASH which was great and then this year I performed at an event promoting the 2012 Para Olympic games in Bognor.
Carnival plays a big part of my life as it is a complete cycle because as soon as one season finishes the next is already being prepared for. Carnival has helped me in many ways such as extending my circle of friends, learning new skills and in my artistic knowledge which has really helped me in different situations. I also help put together the dance routines and have helped run the dance sessions.
Whilst I prefer the performing side of carnival I sometimes help with the costume making and have even been known to help on the sewing machine.
Carnival is great fun it keeps you fit , its socialable and the music’s great too. I hope to be doing carnival for a long time in the future.

Carnival has been such a good experience and so much fun.
You meet loads of people and mas fusion is such a nice community group and everyone gets along and helps each other .
The music is good and the dances, its just so fun.
We've been to london, brighton and some more places.
I'm so lucky to have a mum that does the carnival because its such good fun and to have a costume like mine its GREAT !

I enjoy carnival, as it's a great way to meet people and have a laugh.
I like wearing a puppet as it means you can interact with th ecrowd, by doing High Fives etc,.
Carnivals are great as you never go through one withoout a smile on your face.
It is also great fun making the costumes.
